Senior Housing

There are senior apartment complexes in almost every city or town of any size and many times, an entire neighborhood which is filled with senior housing and senior apartments and even small residential senior homes. It is a grat time to be a baby boomer with lots and lots of people in this group and many of them living longer and longer due to advances in science and medicine.

No one is limited these days to the old two choices. you can certainly have either of those choices, but those are no longer the only options in the world. And that is a really good thing.

One of the big ideas in some designated retirement communities is that the folks there are over the age of 55. There are in fact, a great amount of communities throughout the US where the bylaws of home ownership specifically state that the owners of a unit must be of a certain age.

Those are known generally as 55 plus retirement communities. Not too surprising because the rules say that the owners must be at least 55 years or better to live there.

This has to do not only with the building of a community spirit within the development, but how the original charter and financing were arranged for the construction. Certain senior housing projects were funded by loans with the condition that  the buyers of the properties are of a particular age.

In some cases, this even precludes children coming over for extended visits. Not always, but for sure, no children are allowed to reside on the premises.

Because there are so many people of retirement age appearing on the social landscape, there are hundreds of choices of retirement communities throughout the US. If, for some reason, the bylaws of one community preclude you buying into that community, there is certainly no lack of retirement developments available.

Just a quick look around the internet and you can hundreds if not thousands of available properties to suit your particular needs.

Baby boomers are not really the lay around at home looking out the window kind of people. Most of us have been active our whole lives and see no reason to stop when we retire.

It isn’t that there aren’t cool things to sit and wait for, its just that it is so much more fun to go out and find them instead of sitting around hoping they show up.

It is a really good thing that the real estate developers decided that it was important to build active retirement communiites for seniors becasue there is just no way that most boomers would settle for anyhting less.

Move to Florida, maybe, Arizona, probably not. So it is areally, really good thing that active retirement communities are being built allover the country righ tnow. It lets peoplechoose where thye want to live when they stop working and it is a great thing that there are more choices than the south or the southwest.
